While the average child is concerned with toys, cartoons and playing with their friends, 10-year-old Esther Okade is enrolled in an Open University with dreams of pursuing a PhD and running her own bank. Although she also has a fascination with dolls and Disney's Frozen, she has dreamed of attending the University since the age of seven.
"She would say, 'Mum, when am I starting?', and go on and on and on," Esther's mother Omonefe explained. "Finally, after three years she told me, 'Mum I think it is about time I started university now."
Esther's brother appears to be following in her footsteps, at the age of 6 he is already studying for the UK's advanced level math exams which are typically taken by 18 year-olds. The siblings are both home-schooled by their mother, a 37 year-old Mathematician who has converted their living room into a makeshift classroom.
Her father Paul, 42, a managing director, added: "I cannot tell you how happy and proud I am as a father. The desire of every parent is to see their children exceed them, and take the family name to great heights, and my children have done just that."
