Balancing your work life and personal life can be challenging for most people, and when you add a pregnancy to the scale your stress levels can really tip over.  Don't worry, there are plenty of resources and tips to help you continue to perform well on the job without losing your mind.  Here are some of the top recommendations from Mayoclinic.org and Parents.com:

  1. Avoid nausea triggers
  2. Snack often - crackers, bland food, ginger ale or ginger tea are great for nausea
  3. Eat foods rich in iron and protein
  4. Take short, frequent breaks
  5. Drink plenty of fluids
  6. Cut back on activities - shop online or hire someone to clean the house
  7. Keep up your fitness routine - walking, prenatal fitness classes
  8. Go to bed early - 7 to 9 hours of sleep recommended
  9. Take control - Make daily to-do lists and prioritize your tasks
  10. Talk it out - Share frustrations with a supportive co-worker, friend or loved one
  11. Relax - practice relaxation techniques or try a prenatal yoga class
  12. Making the announcement - Wait until after first trimester.  Make sure your boss is the first to know - schedule an appointment to announce the news and make (s)he aware of due date.
  13. Squeezing in appointment - Schedule doctor's appointments before work or during lunch breaks
  14. Getting ready for maternity leave - A month in advance, tell your boss the precise day you expect to stop working and a tentative date that you'll be back.
